| The Fellows Louisiana Story History The Fellows Academy Charter Schools (FACS) began as a vision shared by a diverse group of educators many of who had relocated to New Orleans between 2003 and 2005 as part of the Orleans Parish Teaching Fellows initiative. All were experienced, highly skilled and appropriately certified (some in multiple disciplines). These teachers came to teach where they were needed most. (The Fellows motto is “Teach where you are needed most.”) Following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita these individual educators began to attend public meetings to better understand the state of and direction of education in New Orleans, Louisiana.
